Looking to put an illuminated scope on a 22 hornet for fox / coyote hunting.  Was planning on getting the Mueller, but figured I'd get you guys opinions first.

Which of the following do you think would be a better scope.  They are all in the same price range.

Thanks for the help

I don't really like Muellers, I ended up selling the one I had.  I'd vote for the Vortex, but I don't know a great deal about them.....

I like those suggestions, a 22 hornet is a great classic varmint cartridge for handy, stalking rifles.  No need to to go up to 10x magnification or 50mm objectives for shots that will be 200 yards or less.

If you feel like bumping up in quality there are some really good deals on the Bushnell 4200 1.25x4 illuminated 4a reticle, I think SWFA will match the cheapest price you find if they actually keep them in stock at those other stores.

Seen them for a little over $300, they should be much better quality than the others.  Very tough, very bright, and have the Rainguard HD that everyone is chiming in on these forums to say works outstanding and true to advertisement.

I was born and raised in NE Ohio so I know the weather in W Penn. can be very nasty.

Well, now you got me looking at the Bushnell too.  I know 10x is not necessary, but I use this gun to hunt groundhogs with my son also.  Kinda nice to have it.

How about this, which of the following brands do you guy feel is the best overall?  How would you rank these from 1-4?

Mueller SportDot

Simmons Aetec

Bushnell Trophy

Vortex Crossfire

I have a 6-20x50 Crossfire I have beat up pretty good on a heavy kicking springer. It has held a so far. The optics are pretty good for the price.

Thanks to all that replied.
I'm going to order a Weaver Classic Extreme 2.5-10x50 when I get home tonight.  The reviews have been awesome.  Only bad thing I see is the weight of it for on a CZ527...... but I think I can live with that.

WOW you guys weren't kidding, this sucker is heavy!
Excellent scope, but will most likely end up on a different rifle, so I might still have to pick one of the above mentioned for the hornet.

Forgot to mention, the scope in the picture is a Barska 3-12x50.  The Weaver is quite a bit thicker and heavier.

Such a slim and trim beauty, you decide on another scope now besides the Weaver?

Seeing that fox reminds me of being back home in Ohio.

To stay looking pretty on that rifle and not weigh it down I think I would try a Burris Fullfield II LRS 3-9X40....its lighter (only 13 ounces, half the Weaver CE weight) than most of the lower powered illuminated scopes and it doesn't have an ugly illumination control knob jumping out.

I've seen a few comments around the web where people say they had problems with the illumination controls on theirs, but I think it is worth the chance.

It will probably be a lot better glass than the cheaper onces you mentioned earlier and you can use the heavy Weaver for a little while if you do unfortunately have to send in the Burris to get the illumination stuff tweaked.
