So far the favorite is my 4 1/2-30X50 Bushnell 6500.  But I ordered a 5-25X53 Swarovski ZX5 the other day and will give them a good comparison.  There is about a grand difference in price so the Swaro better be outstanding in order to stay.

My favorite up to this point has been a 2 1/2x or 3x (Don't remember which) Lyman Alaskan with the post reticle. It was on a borrowed rifle which went back to its rightful owner in the early nineties. The view through it was really clear and I loved the reticle and size of the scope.

I'm starting this season with a 3-9x40 Conquest with the no. 4 reticle. For me it's too soon to tell if this is going to be a keeper for my current rifle. I like the reticle and fixed eye relief, but the scope is a bit heavy and eye position is more sensitive than the Leupold it replaced. I haven't had it out enough yet to tell about the low light performance, which is important to me.

I should also mention the Accupoint 3-9 mildot / green dot
all things considered, it's probably the best hunting scope on the market if you factor in what you get for what you pay

I love my SS 3-9.  I do really like my Burris Black Diamond.  SS probably wins overall.

Im really fond of the 6x42 FX3 but Im looking real hard at some high end glass and some illuminated scopes.

A Redfield lowpro 4x, my first "expensive" scope, haha, It fogged during a daylong down pour and broke my heart. :(

I had it done over by Redfield, but never trusted her again.

My trusty 30-06 has a Kowa 3-9 on it with a FFP post reticle that has never failed me ... its like a match made in heaven.  However this year I put a Accupoint 2.5-10 on my M77 Hawkeye and that might be my new favorite ... when you pan to the shadows that green dot shows up nicely and the glass is impressive.

Sapper funny you mentioned the Kowa 3-9, my 10 year old son fell while hunting with a Kowa 3-9 with a post.  I watched the scope land on top of a 6 x 1  inch piece of shale and it broke the rock in half, we called it the rock crusher, it never lost zero etc, and is still on the rifle 15 years later.

I had used Sightron 3-9x40mm riflescope.
My favorite one is  Leupold 3-9x40 Mark AR Riflescope Duplex / MilDot 67165 67160. Hoever, it's expensive to me.

Burris FF2...own 2 of them...best built scope for the money out there.

Nikon Team Primos is a close 2nd...(would be 1st but I'm still getting used to it...it does have more clarity than the FF2s and is brighter in daylight, but I'm not so sure at dark in the woods...plus I missed 3 deer with it Halloween weekend...went to the range after and was 8 inches low off of a paper plate...must have hit it on something the prior 2 weeks, but nothing for that kind of off target shooting...fixed now).

Going looking for a Conquest to see what the fuss is about.  My neighbor's Meopta is really impressive but it cost almost 6 times what I paid for the FF2s and 4 times what I paid for the Nikon...

Just don't see myself ever paying more than $400 for a scope...I may put together one more package for my son and unless something goes amiss, it'll be a Leupold VXIII.
