They're usually in the ball park.

I sold a Leupold VXII target scope for a friend. Like I was told,it's a specialized scope and can become outdated fast due to manfacturers improving them.

they have a blue book of scopes, and they will offer you x amount for your scope, so they can turn around and sell it again and still make a little money. its just business, if $450 is what they offered then they are probably close. if you dont like their figure put for sale online and see what happens.

If you buy a new car as soon as your plate goes on it $1500 is lost from the price start to drive it and another $1000 is gone, even if you tried to sell it back to the dealer who sold it to you.Business is Business.
Like some one else said try selling out right.

Been watching them on auction sites daily - that is a fair offer on that outdated VX-III - even if you bought it last year it was an old model (outdated) at that point.

Bought a NIB VXIII 8.5-25 x 50 LR Target probably 7 - 8 years ago, I paid 699 + shipping on it, still perfect as new in the box, but its an older outdated piece, whats it worth? you paid to much is my opinion if you bought it last year for $700 - besides deduct $$ its used now.

Silver 6.5-20 NIB LR VXIII $600 or make offer - been posted every week with no sale at FeeBay & FeeBay is high - PayPal & Auction fees (OUCH)

Just an opinion from someone who is looking to buy a scope & watching the market.

Good Luck
