Looking to pick up a set of talley lightweight one piece rings for my 700 adl with a bushnell 4200 3-9 x 40 scope on it.  What's the lowest I can go without touching the barrel?  It's in 30-06 with a standard contour barrel.

Thanks,
Mike

Gary at Talley said the Low would work for my Bushnell 6500 2.5-16x42 on a Tikka T3, so Low should work for your set-up.  I'll reply and verify once my rings come in.

I put a set of low Talley Lightweights on my X-Bolt and had plenty of room to mount a Zeiss Conquest 3x9x40.  The Talley Lightweight Low heights are between Leupold Low and Med. hts. on the X-bolt, so I would say that it is probably the same for your Remington.

Lows, for sure.  I've done exactly what you're asking.  Talley "low" is pretty high.

I've got the 1 piece lightweight aluminum talley lows on my Rem 700 .270 with a kahles 3-10x50.  I had to file a very small flat on the barrel to make it work. You will have lots of room with even a 44mm. I have put 40mm scopes on leupold super-low rings, on 700 rifles. The bolt gets into the eyepiece before you hit the barrel when you are dealing with 40mm and smaller.

I used lows on my Vanguard with a Conquest 4.5-14x44, and had no problems. Objective end clears barrel by about 1/8"
