Finally got a nice day......... into the upper 60's, sunny with very little wind.  Took the rimfires to the range and did some shooting at the 50 yd target.  I noticed my Browning SA's scope was loose in the rings, so I tightened up and wanted to see where it was shooting.  It was off a bit, but it didn't take much to get it back on.  Talk about a fun little gun to shoot Yippee.  I also shot my little Springfield model 15 single shot.  This was my Father's first gun.  It's a single shot bolt and the hammer is the kind you pull straight back.  It was off quite a bit at 50 yds.  Iron sights so I didn't do anything to adjust it.  I shot lots of "tree Rats" with that thing back in the day!

Next I shot my Browning Lever.  It was right on and I was able to easily pick off some left over Blue rocks that were lying on the berm!   I might just get into rimfire silhouette shooting at the club with this gun! Its accurate enough if I can do my part.

Finished up with my .17 HMR Savage.  I got my Redfield 4-12X40AO which I got off Ebay from SWFA, sighted in.  I shot some pretty good groups.... smaller than a dime at 50 yds... and wanted to post them but my college age daughter has my camera.   I think I'm really gonna like this scope.  At 50 yds I could easily see those tiny little .17 holes on 8 power and at 12 power I could see if I shot two that were touching, each impact separately.

There are few things more enjoyable than a good day at the range, and few things more educational than a bad day at the range.
Let's all try and get out more this year, shall we, Fellas?

 Thanks for sharing, Tip!

Glad to hear you had fun. Usually it seems the best days at the range are spent with rimfires. When the High powers are taken it seems to take a lot more equipment. Chrono. bags. rest, more targets, tools to adjust scopes. cleaning rods. 2 wheeler or wagon to haul all the junk. and every thing else that is always forgotten. With the rimfires its usually fust fun.

I meet a couple of friends once a week at the range for about an hour of shooting before I go to work. If I don't have anything pressing (match practice or sighting-in) I usually take my AR-15 with a 22 kit installed. I just plink. I just shoot off hand at anything left out on the range, cans, golf balls, rocks, shotgun hulls, anything from 25 to 100yds I can see that's about the width of my match front sight. Chasing a golf ball down range with a 22 till I can't see it; now that's golf. Go to the range house drink some coffee, tell some lies, and I'm good for the day.

10-4!!

I love to go to the range. I'm usually the first one there in the mornings and I get set up and dry fire my bolt rifle for 15 minutes or so. Helps me shoot better groups later.

That's the one place I go to relax and unwind. I have no problems or worries out there. (Save the idiot sweeping me with his perverbial UNLOADED shotgun.) Furious

Beltfed, with todays prices on 5.56/.223 ammo, the .22 conversion kit you use must be a God send!!
I have oft considered getting one for my AR, due to the rising cost of ammo.

I love going to the range and shooting, sadly I don't get to do it near as much as I'd like to.

I keep having to find new ranges, because the ones near me keep shutting down to make way for new housing developments.

Since my hunting lease is about an hour away, these days, I've been going there to shoot instead.

Good report, Tip69!

The range is my home away from home. Right now the range I go its only 100 yards. I have a place I can go in Alabama to shoot allot farther than I can shoot but I don't have the time to go as much as I would like. At the gun shop I work at we have a 70 yard range that we test at but I don't shoot much there just to shoot. I’m hoping me and a few friends can get it worked out to maybe go in the middle of April to do some shooting. Hint Hint

Good job Tip.

You guys make me feel luckyYippee! I have a 80yd range at home and I'm 10 minutes from Knob Creek Range, 20-300,400, and some times 500yds. I could do most of my shooting at home, but it's more fun to visit friends, brouse the gun shop&snackbar, and shoot at stuff (or targets) out to 500yds. Instead of going to the corner bar and drinking beerBoozer; I go to the corner range and sniff gun powder.Sharp%20Shooter
Oh yea cheaptrick, it's a Ceiner 22 kit and well worth the money. I've been pestering Jonathon C. to make a 22 kit for the AUG so I can really cut the cost of my addiction.Semi%20Auto

We are pretty blessed here...... Our Range was voted NRA's 2006 Outstanding Club Award.

Currently these are the facilities available:

600 yd Rifle Range with covered shooting stations, target pits, carriers, and 200 and 300 yd firing points for HP Rifle matches, and Silhouette facilities at various distances for a variety of matches.
100 yd/meter multi-purpose range with covered shooting area and 50 yd/meter berm. Use of this range is currently restricted to league or match events, and to open shooting only when a Range Officer is present.
Trap range.
A 50 yd range with covered firing points and a pistol complex with 3 separated 25 yd ranges suitable for short-range shooting and Action Pistol matches.
Land for further expanded activities.

Its about a 30 min drive from my house......... that's if I don't stop at Cabelas on the way!

The only rifle range in my county is about 30 min. from here and only offers 50 and 100yd berms. Membership is $140 and an NRA membership for a single. Therefore I go up the road about 5 min. To my uncles gravel pit, where I can get under the wind, and shoot 50-300yds for free all day long and not have a soul in the world bother me. I send the wife to work, take the kids to school and can be there by 9:00 and don't have to be back until 3:30. It's pretty rough
