I tried to do some HDR images and took several pictures of a carnival that was in town.

I was using my Nikon D7000 in conjunction with a borrowed Nikon AF-S Nikkor 14-24mm F/2.8G ED (corner bender). Which I love this lens now. Super fast focus and sharp images thus far.

I was a little over exposed on some of these, but for my first HDR attempts, I think that they turned out pretty well.

Good job!
I assume your 3rd, 5th, and maybe your 2nd photos are your HDRs; is that correct?
How many bracketed images and at what EV increments did you use for your HDRs?

I like the way the ferris wheel and people fill the frame more in the first photo from a detail standpoint, but I like the composition better in the 2nd - 4th photos. I think the composition on the first one could be improved by moving your position over to the left to grab some of the sidewalk into the frame (like you did in the other photos), angle the camera back to the right a little to pick up the same basic subject elements, and still keep your working distance the same. By having some of the sidewalk coming toward the viewer in the foreground, it helps lead the eye into the scene better by providing leading lines that makes the scene more dynamic.

Yes sir, well that was the trick...because I haven't completely learned how to set up bracket shooting. Instead of bracketing, I shot three exposure, using my remote. All technically long exposures, about 5 seconds each.

One -1 EV

Second 0 EV

Third +1 EV

Then loaded one in post, cleaned it up, layered the second and third, doctoring them to echo that of each other and making one photo. That is why there is some shadowy...haloing around #3 & #5.

I'm not sure if that was the correct way to do it. But that is how I managed to do it.
