I have a Webley revolver that is in really nice shape that I am looking for a little help on, if possible.. It is excellent shape, and  has a 4 in barrel. The 4 digit serial number is 51** and matches on the frame, barrel and cylinder. It has been converted to 45acp. On the left side of the frame ,it is labeled" Webley Mark I ....1914 ....patents" . A large 'crows foot" appears on the top strap. and similar crows feet ( although much smaller) appear throughout the revolver. Everything is tight on the revolver. The rifling is crisp, and there is  very mild pitting in the barrel. I am considering parting with it for it has been a safe queen for years now. Anyone know what I've got and maybe what it's worth would be great. ..thanks

I

Wow, Tahqua got right on that! A great link....I was messing around on the internet and came up with 1887 till the 1890s....but that tells the whole story. It must have been converted to 45 ACP somewhere along the way.       --Ed

I got the skinny on this one from a member of the gunboard's forum ( british gun pub section) ..It is a MKI that was converted to 455 for WWI. The cylinder and barrel were replaced ,and stamped with the original serial number. It may have been refinished at that time or soon there after.  The best we could figure is that it was imported 58 to 65'ish , and converted to 45 acp at that point. It really looks like it has never been shot much ( if at all since the conversion). I got from a guy who worked for me and his new wife gave all firearms the boot ( major whipped). It was his granddad's, and I would have kicked her out first.  As an aside---I had 3 offers in an half an hour after the posting...
