Just got the V3 scope.  Its very light weight ~8oz.  I didnt have much time to look thru the glass today but I did mount it.  IMO, its the next best thing to iron sights as the fov is so large that I see most of my barrel in the view even on 3x.

I normally shoot with both eyes open with iron sights so Im already used to this and the extra magnification doesnt at all bother me.  On 1x I think everyone should be able to keep both eyes open and with a little practise work up to the 3x.  I would be just as happy if it was a fixed 3x.

So far, its the least amount of scope that Ive ever tried and it doesnt seem to take away from the balance of the rifle.  I really like that about it.

I'll post my experiences with it after I take it to the range.

Congrats!  The V3 has a reputation for being a super value.  What kind of rifle do you have it mounted on?

Hi folks,

Do you think that little Weaver wpold do fine on an adult airgun?
I know the V16 works for that, but am looking for something waaay smaller and lighter.

Regards,
pyro

I was hoping to get to the range today but decided to do something else instead. Maybe tomorrow.

I think it would work well on a an air-rifle as long as the price fits your needs/budget.  Id probably use a Simmons on an air rifle.  They are cheap but they have a very good warranty.

I looked thru the v3 at dark and the image looked just as dark/bright as without the scope.  I couldnt see a difference other than the when looking at something that had a light on in the background, the scope was more clear with less glare than without the scope.

As long as it holds zero, I will be very pleased with this scope.

Root, you did very well with your purchase. I commend you. Heck, even I would pay that for a Loopy.

And da Weavers are still made in Japan.

My latest "good buy" was a Weaver RV7 marketed by Omark, NIB for $55. Ran home to mount it on my Marlin 39 and damn if it wasn't a 7/8" tube!!! Just got some NOS Weaver Top Mount rings from Numrich yestarday ($12.95 + $5 shippin'). Damn, does that scope look good on that gun. Sits low and tight and is in proportion with the rest of the gun.

I bought a V3 for a friend and another for myself and spent a while playing with them.  The eye relief was a fair bit longer.  I measured it at about 3.5-4" to the eyepiece (and a touch more to the lens).  I've also seen it quoted at either 4" or 3.1".  Not sure why there are two different versions, but the V3s I saw were closer to 4".

I finally got to the range to sight-in the V3.

It performed well.  The 1/4" adjustments are accurate.  I like it on 3 power and think it would be great if it was a fixed 3x scope. If that would reduce the weight, I be even more pleased.

It makes shots up to 150 yards feel easy. It has a very wide fov and is clear out to the edge.  The glass is brighter and sharper images than my friends older redfield scope.

It has plenty of eye relief and I dont know what the other posts concern is.

Im looking forward to hunting with it.

I have an old steel tune Weaver 3x on the meat gun (742 Carbine) and L-O-V-E it. You can have it when ya pry my cold dead hands from it.

You can't get a scope much lighter than that aluminum tube V3, so don't lose sleep about the weight.

Glad ya likes it.
