Looking at both scopes for rimfire benchrest at 50 yards. On paper they look almost identical except for the magnification. Obviously the 36 will give the benefit of more power, but if the glass is of equal quality, will the 24X give a clearer picture? I might give up the higher power at 50 yards for a bit more clarity. I had a 36T once and liked it but I have never looked through a 24X and I have none nearby to look at in person. |

36x will be a considerably darker image, just because of the smaller exit pupil because of the higher mag. It will also magnify the flaws in the glass more, the mirage more, movements more, your heart beat more, etc. There are many negatives to a fixed power scope like these of such high magnification. But they also have a place depending upon the type of shooting you are doing. It is just important to understand the pros and cons of them. |
