Looking for a new scope and was wondering where the weaver super slam fits in the scheme of things scope-wise.
I was considering a 3-15X42mm EBX reticle
vs
Bushnell 6500 2.5-16X42mm with duplex
How close are these quality wise ? I used the 6500 as an example because I have one.

venatic . . . don't feel like the Lone Ranger.  I asked a similar question some time back about the Grand Slam 6-20x40 and I think I got one well-meaning but generic reply that didn't answer my ?.

In spite of all the great press reviews of the Grand Slam line here and elsewhere, it seems that when you come right down to it, there aren't that many out there.

Well I can actually help you there. I have had the Grand Slam 6-20X40 for about 5 years now and while I wish I had gotten the 4-14X40 or whatever the exact power range is you know which one I am talking about. The bottom end is not quite low enough for my use(coyote hunting). I ahve it mounted on a 17Remington and it has been on a .223 as well. When I bought it I compared it to a few Leupold's I had and that opened my eyes to the fact I was paying more for them and the Weaver was just as good if not better. It tracks well and holds zero and has been a very good scope. That is actually why I am considering the Super Slam.

Thanks. I appreciate the info. How is the 6-20x40 GS at 18-20x? Still reasonably bright and clear in those upper power settings?

yes it is not as bright as a Bushnell 4200 or a Ziess Conquest but brighter than a Burris Fullfield II if that helps.

I do not think I have seen a whole lot of Super Slam scopes around.  They are somewhat new.  Grand Slam scopes have been around for quite some time and have very good reputation.

I know of a couple of people who got Super Slam scopes and they seem to work well, but that's a pretty small sample.

I've got a Nitrex TR Two which I think is made by Weaver and the same scope as the Super Slam line.  It has the EBX reticle and is 3x15x50 with side focus.  I have it on a 22-250 and it goes with me all year on my wheeler in the canyon checking cattle.  It takes the bouncing from the wheeler and still maintains "zero" with no problems.  My buddy has the same scope and lost the turret tops, they spun off.  I called Nitrex Customer service and they sent two out at no charge right away.  Can't beat that!
Clarity is great, as good as my Leupy VX3s and VX-L, contrast is not as good as those two other scopes though.  I see color differences better in the shade and lower light conditions with the VX-L.  Now this is with my eyes though, yours might be different.
The TR Two line and Super Slam are what $500+ scopes.... I would say my TR Two falls right in there for the money.

The Weaver Super Slam I'm liking is the 1.5-5X24. But most everyone doesn't seem to have the correct image for the description? the only one I can find that does seem to have the right image for this particular scope is MidwayUSA.

http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/default.aspx?productnumber=383768

It;s one of the uro versions but even when I went to Weaver I found nothing. And doing a search using the item # brought up the description but the wrong image. I think and am pretty sure that even SWFA has the wrong image. See below and note the description of both and the image from both the Midway and SWFA link.

But I'm liking the one I linked at Midway.

I don;t know what happened and why the links won't work? When I compared them to the ones that work, it appears when the system inserted the links, it put a space in between the http:// and the www. It links it like this and it comes up problem loading page.

http:// www When you click on it and it comes up problem loading, just go to the address bar and move the entire address at the www to the left one space and then click enter. Do that for both links in my post above.

I don't know what happened and I haven't figured out how to or can't seem to find where to edit my posts?

So until I can or do, in the meantime, do the fix and click enter...

Your link won't work because you are advertising another vendor  on  SWFA's web site!

Weaver Grand Slams are made in exactly the same factory in Japan as Bushnell Elites (Light Optical Works) but they don't ever seem to get the respect they deserve, atleast on this website! Hiding I'd have the Grand Slam atleast a step up from where it is on the 2009 Riflescope Scale and possibly on the same level as the Elite 4200.

Even though the claimed light transmission thru a Bushnell Elite 4200 is 95% (Vs the Grand Slams 94%) it wouldn't surprise me if they both have the exactly the same optics!

The only things that the Weaver Grand Slams lose out on is not having the Rainguard feature, value for money (more expensive than 4200s) and the range of magnification.

This is true about where the scopes are made.ATK purchased the Weaver brand last year and I contacted them about warranty work on a Meade era Grand Slam.ATK still uses LOW to produce there new line of scopes to Weavers specs.
