Ffp, mil dot, illum....I like super slam glass, any concerns with this for a 260? I'd like more mag and side focus, but sf not needed on max 10 probably....can find this for 399 right now and seams a steal...anyone have one?
That thing on the left....my old ride, some days I miss her.

I'm considering the same scope for my Steyr Pro Hunter in .280 and finding similar prices.  I have the Weaver Tactical 3-15x currently on a 6.5 Creedmore Ruger Precision Rifle and have been very happy with it.  Performance wise it is a toss up between the Weaver 3-15 and my SS 3-15 with differences, IMO, boiling down to preferences for features such as locking turrets and illumination both of which are available on the Weaver.

Rainman,

Do you think the Weaver 3 x 15x glass is as good as the SS?  I'm looking for a FFP scope and the SS has been suggested but there is Weaver 4 x 20x that looks interesting but not sure about glass quality.  I use Weaver Target scopes on my Silhouette guns and the glass quality is ok but those are $500 scopes vs the Tacticals that are about double the money.  Those are 2nd focal plane scopes too.

Any advise would be appreciated.

My SS 3-15 is on a 6.5 Grendel AR and the Weaver on a 6.5 Creedmore Ruger Precion Rifle both of which I shot yesterday at 100 and 200 yards in marginal afternoon light at our range (shadows).  It's a toss up on optical quality. To my eye I see a small amount of tunneling at 15x in the SS but weight and proportions are better suited to the AR 15 platform so advantage there to the SS as well as price.  The Weaver turrets lock and the paralax adjustment is slightly smoother on the Weaver plus the option of lighted reticle which I end up not using because it is not daylight visible on sunny days.  I am happy with both.  If I needed another 3-15 I'd buy the SS because of the size and weight advantages.  I have not looked through the 4-20 Weaver but I have compared both 3-15 scopes side by side to the Vortex Viper PST 4-16 and both have superior optical quality to the PST above 10x IMO.

Ok. There is a Weaver on the Samplelist for about the same price as the SS and this one is going on a Ruger Precision rifle in .308 if it ever shows up.  I may give the Weaver a try.

Thanks
