Hi guys - i expect some pretty good opinions on this one -

i am 'upgrading' some pretty aweful optics (tasco, glenfield, etc) on some of my older rifles and was wondering your opinions

on the lower grade weaver scopes - from what i have read on some posts, there are some of you that

seem pretty keen on this line.  i am looking at the K, V, and rimfire models - they seem wonderfully priced for

'fully multi coated' optics.  as always your input is greatly respected / appreciated.

guns include 30/30's and 22 rimfires. thanks.

J

I've had pretty good luck with Weaver K series scopes: K2.5 and K4 for the most part, but I've also used K6.  From the V-series line-up, I ve had exceedingly good experience with V3 and no luck at all with higher-powered variables.  Grand Slam scopes have been uniformly excellent in my practice.

The catch is that now that Meade has taken over, I do not know what will happen to the quality.  I am not a big fan of Meade.

Basically, look before you buy, and, IMO, stay away from high magnification V-series scopes.

I have no idea.  I also have no idea whether Meade already messed with the Weaver line-up or not.  I know they messed with Simmons and Redfield.

I got a Weaver V12B back around 1970 and got a lot of use out of it. It's been back for repairs 2x.
