I picked up a CMP .22 tax driver with a bull barrel. It came with a weaver scope with 49995 6x40 Japan markings.
The vertical reticle is way off. It is skewed, and it's almost off the viewfinder. It is way over by 3 o'clock.
I don't know if this is something a novice can repair by himself, and I don't know if this scope is worth spending money on repair. I'm guessing for the cost of repair I could probably buy a new scope that is far superior. I only shoot in the back of my farm, plinking and I'd have to guess 100 yd max.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome.

Not something that amateur should attempt. I see anew scope in your future.

If it´s one of the target scopes named CT or similar with aluminium tube and 1/8 moa clicks, I would  investigate the cost of repair (or the status of warranty). It was a pretty good scope for it´s era.

Yes, it has marking CT6 Micro-Trac on the muzzle end of the scope.

I didn't have the rifle with me when I wrote my OP. It's a Kimber model 82 government.

I think I'd replace the scope and hang on to the one you have. You might be able to find someone, competent that could repair the scope later.
Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

Weaver T scopes are good scopes. Check these folks for repair.

Assuming your scope only has a faulty reticle and you are pondering a repair (change of reticle):
