looking at both of these in 2.5-10x50 w/ illuminated german #4 reticles (or illuminated duplex of Weaver). can anyone who has looked thru both compare? I like the eye relief and price of the weaver but there are no stores around here where i can look thru them. i have heard good things about them on here and other forums i guess i am just looking for some reassurance before i pull the trigger on the weaver. i would buy one here but i think they are out of stock as the scope has been discontinued.
really looking for low light performance, including reticle, as i will be stand hunting at night mainly for pigs and deer in sc.

I know it don't matter to some here, but being they both were in the same price range, I like the adjustable parallax feature on the Weaver. But now that the price is better for the Weaver on top of it, that just close the deal for me. I ordered two but have not yet received them.

From where did you order the Weaver Classic Extreme? Last night I was debating ordering one from competitor Shooting Supply. This morning I decided to go for it and couldn't find it on their web site.
This past week I bought a Remington 700 PSS. I tried to order a Super Sniper but SWFA has them on back order, so I cannibalized a 10x Super Sniper off of my Fulton Armory AR15 varmint rifle. I'm thinking the Weaver will be a good back fill for the SS on the AR. ~Sail |

Well, it's against the forum rules to mention a competitor here. But use google and you will find many of them.

I have the 2.5-10x50 4200 and the optics are clear. The reticle is good for low light shooting.I bought this scope in 2004 & very happy with it's performance. You can also buy the firefly in the 3200 series and save some money on batteries.

Okay... ignore my stupid comment. Sorry about that. I bought a Weaver Class Extreme 2.5-10x today from a "competitor", we'll see how it works out. It's replacing a Super Sniper 10x that I took off my Fulton Armory AR15 Varmint rifle and put on a Remington 700 PSS .308.
The 10x Super Sniper seemed like over kill for the 1/9 twist AR. ~Sail |

I had a 4200 2.5-10x56 german #4 (non illuminated)
at the same time I had (and still do) a Kahles Cl3-10x50
the Kahles was noticeable better glass
recently, I got one of the Weaver 2.5-10x56 with the lit #4
it's VERY close to the Kahles when I have checked it out at night
both it and the Kahles are like "wow, that's a BRIGHT and SHARP" image...
the Bushnell I was like "nice scope.."

Sail,
Why do you say that the Super Sniper is overkill for the AR? I am just curious because I am looking for a scope for my first AR. It's a Bushmaster Predator but has a 1/8 twist. I was looking at a Bushnell 6500 2.5-16x42 but if you think that would be overkill let me know.
