I am evaluating a Weaver 36x scope versus a Nikon Monarch 8x32 for target shooting out to 600 yards.  Most of my matches are out to 500 yards and occasionally I 'll shoot 600 benchrest.  I have a Weaver 36x which for the money is an excellent scope solid adjustments, target turrets, easy elevation to 600 yards.  I have never used a Monarch 8x32 although I have an older Nikon 6.5x20 and found it to be an excellent scope however I want more power.  I have had times at 500 yards the fixed Weaver 36x was tough to use due to heavy mirage and it would have been nice to be able to dial down the power.  The Nikon 8x32 seems to be a solid piece of glass however I understand it only has a total of 20 MOA adjust (10 down/10 up).  If this is correct I'm concerned shooting a 223 with 77 grain bullets do I have enough elevation to reach the longer ranges?  I do use Burris Signature rings with inserts so I'm think I could use (if needed) a plus and minus 20 which would give me an additional 40 MOA which with the built in 10 MOA should easily reach 600 yards.
Am I correct in my thinking? I would appreciate personal experiences on both these scopes.
