Just another question about these two scopes.  I am up in the air about the two.  I think the VXIII Boone and Crockett optics offer a more unique optic compared to the Elite 4200 and gives a better advantage with the different heights and wind adjustments on the corss hairs themselves.  I know its Leupold and more expensive, I heard the Elite has better clarity and the way to go.  Should I just go with the Elite 4200 regular cross hairs or spend the more money for the VXIII Boone and Crockett but not as good clarity.  I want a good scope under $600.  I have just bought a 30-06 and need help.  Thanks

i like the look of the boone  and  crocket  reticle  alot,  but  have  you  checked out the bushnell ballistic reticle?

For the price,  I couldnt be happier  with  mine.

Shooting a  308  thru  a 26" barrell I am finding   the  first notch on the reticle  to hit at about 250-260 yards depending on the bullet.  I have yet to get out to  a 500 yard  range  to see  where the  rest  of the   graduations  meet up.

I think that's just whatever you prefer.  The Bushnell 3200 is not the scope the 4200 is, so if you really want the B&C type reticle get the Leupold.  Or check out a Burris Signature Select.  The Ballistic Plex reticle isn't as good as the B&C, but it works.  The Signature Select scopes are pretty big and heavy, but they are top quality.
