Are the Power Selector Rings on VXIIs extraordinarily difficult to turn/adjust? I have a new one, my first Leupold, and it is really tough to turn. During cold weather, it takes thumb and forefinger of BOTH hands to adjust.
Thanks...

Yes that is a common complaint on the VXl and ll. They will loosen with use or if too tight they will loosen if its sent back in. I personnaly would not return one unless I couldn't turn it at all in cold weather.

Ok...
I will see how it goes with a little more time and use. With a Lifetime Warranty, why hurry?
Thank you very much.

I had one that was pretty stiff brand new but after a couple seasons it loosened up to where it wasn't an issue at all.

afsenior,

I'm just curious, but what power is this scope?  I bought 2 different 2x7's, and both were extremely tight as well.  I even sent one in to get some help.

Please excuse me. I should have stated what the scope was.
It is a VXII 3-9x40, brand new this fall. The ring was stiff right out of the box but when cold it was so hard to turn that I had to hold the rifle between my legs and use both hands to turn the ring. It really isn't too big a problem because I hardly ever change it from one setting to another unless the terrain changes a great deal. This season I had it set on the usual 3 power but when I moved to my hayloft because the wind was cold and  wanted to reset the magnification at about 6, it was really tough to turn and adjust. Not to worry... got warm... got my deer... good eight pointer... life is good.
Thanks for all the help folks!

I  bought a VX II 2-7x33 for my oldest son's first rifle ( he was 10 at the time).  Go figure- he couldn't turn the ring . I sent it back to Leupold, and they returned it in about 4 weeks and stated it was corrected---naahh . However, I have two VX III 2.5-8's and they are just about perfect. Funny- every VX-II that I've tried has been very difficult to turn the power ring, and the VX-III's have been reasonable.. Maybe a marketing ploy to get customer's to step up ....

i had a brand new nikon buckmaster that was the same way right out of the box, so i tolerated it until i got ready to trade a rifle in and then i put it on the trade in rifle and that solved that problem, i hate that.

OK... I changed my mind about waiting for the scope to fix itself. I talked to Leupold Product Service today and explained my problem. She said send it in! I will let you folks know how it works out.   Big%20Grin
