Hello all.

ATM my pet scopes are WIDE DUPLEX VX11 2-7x33's.
It has everything I need but I was wondering if the VX3 1.75-6x32 would be a better option with the 'diamond coat 2' & the 'indexed matched lenses'???

How is the 'eyebox' on this scope???
I have glassed the 2.5-8x36, nice but my 2-7x33 has a bigger eyebox & is less eye critical. I have also glassed the VX3 3.5-10x40, again nice, but it's a little too long & bulky for me. Eyebox was bigger than the 2-7x33 but not by much. I cannot remember if it was less 'eye critical' but I highly doubt it. Those VX11 2-7x33's really shine in this area IMO & to my eye.

So if anyone here has glassed or owns a VX3/VX111 in 1.75-6x32 & knows what I mean by 'eyebox' & 'eye critical' please comment.

Thanks again :)

340, I have 2 of the older Vari-X III versions of this scope model, and I've never had any issues with critical eye placement behind these scopes.  The eyebox seems pretty forgiving to me, but then I maintain consistent head/eye alignment behind scopes as a matter of habit.  Keep in mind this model scope has been redesigned with a longer main tube, plus 2 more generations (VX-III and VX-3) since then, so I don't know how the new VX-3 model compares side by side to mine.  I have seen the VX-3 version of this scope, and it seemed to have a pretty forgiving eyebox to me.  Then again, I've not had a problem with the "eyeboxes" on most current scope models, so maybe I'm the wrong person to advise you on this.

"Eyebox" is kind of a an all-inclusive term. A large eyebox is normally just long eye relief, since long eye relief allows more flexibility in your head position when looking through a scope.

The older Leupolds had long eye relief, but it also varied quite a bit from the lowest magnification to the highest on any scope. The VX-3's have much more consistent eye relief. I have tested three of the VX-3's (two 3.5-10x40's and a 2.5-8x36) and the eye relief only varied at most .4 inch in an of the three from low to high magnification, generally a little on either side of 3.5".

The engineering specs for the VX-3, however, allow a maixmum of  .9" difference in eye relief, so theoretically it's possible to get one with that much difference between the lowest and highest magnifcations.

Was at my LGS this AM. Glassed the 1.75-6x33 VX3. Yeah, good but no 2-7x33 Vx11. The eyebox on the 1.7 is quiet small IMO. The 2.5-8x36 was very sweet.
I do not like the NEW rubber eye piece Leupold has added. This over time will wear & tear(IMO) like it did on my Bushnell I had. The VX11's look even better to me now!

Thanks for your help men. NO 1.75-6x33 for me!
