I don't know if you've read this thread or not, but pretty good review by a member here.

Short answer, yep.  And, it's not just the glass either.

Better glass I believe that the lenses are from the VX7 series, with a lower price.

The VX7 is a nice scope.Compare the optics to a 4200 series or Nikon Gold scope.Between 10-20% increase.

5% IMO.  I do not see a big difference.  I never had a problem with the VXIII's either.

I have only looked through a few VX-3s and only a few more VX-IIIs, so my opinion is just that.  In the models I recently compared, the 1.5-5X20s, I could not see much, if any, difference.  But I did not get a chance to use the scopes at dusk.  I also think that any difference might be more pronounced with more magnification and larger objectives.

I recently bought a 1.5-5X20 VX-III when I could have bought the same in the VX-3 line.  For the price difference, I could not justify the newer scope.  The VX-III is a plenty good enough scope for the likes of me.
