I'm in the market for new glass and am looking around the $700 rangeaand was looking at the razors and just for kicks took a look through a pair of 10X42 vipers and was really impressed for the couple hundred dollar price difference.  What are your guys opinions on the Vipers Thanks Again

I also was going to buy the Vipers, I thought they were extremely nice, until I looked through the meoptas.  The Meoptas were clearer, fit and felt better to me.  If I hadn't viewed the Meoptas I would have been more than happy with the Vipers.  Very nice glass for the money.

Meopta only makes one model...the Meostar series of roofs.

As for the Vipers, I do think they offer one notable optical advantage over the Razors...their level of apparent brightness. They are also lighter and more compact than the Razors. In every other category the Razors better the Vipers in my opinion especially in their ability to control color fringing in many situations.

I would agree that the Meoptas do offer some noticeable optical improvements over the Razors in the sense that the sweet spot in the image is larger in the Meopta and the Meopta is a bit more ergonomic to me. However, the Meopta, like the Viper, does have more color fringing in the image. Some folks don't have an issue with it so it is more of an issue with which particular "flavor" of binocular suits your personal tastes better.

Vipers are very nice, but I think the Razor is worth the $200 extra, at least in my opinion.  The Razor has a much larger FOV (on par with the Meostar) and a more relaxing view due to the larger sweet spot.  It also has less "tunnel vision" than the Viper.  Razor's center field resolution is a little better.  Razor has almost no perceptible CA, unlike Viper, which is the most important difference to me.  I also like the 15 position eyecups on the Razor better.  In addition to being lighter and more compact, I thought Viper had smoother focus, and it also has a flatter field.  So, like everything else, which is better for you depends on what attributes you prefer.  If it were me, I'd get the Razor for the overall superior image quality, though you'd be very well served with either.
