I have just tried out my Viper PST 6 - 24 X 50 mounted on my FN SCAR-17s.   I had a Leupold Mark 4 4.5 - 16 X 50 mounted on the SCAR before.  I was doing this to compare the glass in the PST with the Mark 4.   Let me start by saying there was nothing wrong with the Mark 4.  It has been a work horse for a while and I liked it a lot.   However, I was curious about the PST so I got one and mounted it up.   I went through the process of looking at test patterns of bars that become progressively more narrow and closer together to determine resolution.  I was surprised to see the PST do a lot better (more resolution than the Mark 4).   I then took the setup out to shoot.   I went through the normal zeroing.   It was a piece of cake.   The clicks on the turret were true to the motion on the target.   It took me 3 shots to get to the center of the target and then I shot 3 groups of 5 to see if the rifle/scope were consistent.   They were.   I am going to move my Mark 4 over to a different rifle and keep the PST on my SCAR.    It has turned out to be a much better combination than I thought.

I did have one interesting issue.   To set the zero stop on the PST they have you put shims into a groove in the turret.   They give you a packet of shims that looks like they made a mistake and gave you the share for 5 or 6 turrets.   I was wrong.   In fact, I used them all and still did not have it stopping where it should.   I will call them tomorrow and I am sure they will send more shims, but I have to admit that shims are not the most elegant solution when you have to use tens of them.

The overall experience with the PST has been great.   It will take the place of honor on my SCAR.   It is, at least, competitive with the Mark 4 and I would rate it a bit better.

Been loving my PST too. Have it mounted on my AR and could shoot all day if ammo was not an issue.
