is this a ongoing issue or may I say that's how it is, it's just not clear and live with it,
I mean 600.00 bucks should be able to see the bullet hole clear, I know I'm a sa but I just
think the scope should be clear and be able to see the bullet hole clearly, or maybe I'm doin something wrongWhacko

I haven't shot for a long time use to shoot 1000yd benchrest at Pennsylvania and N.C. but I had unertls and they is clear and 100 and beyond I mean I could see the ragged edges of the hole with my 24 target Ican't even get this scope to see the hole at 100 barely I guess I will call Vortex tommorow and see what they say, I really just want the clarity but I may have to spend 2000 to get it
I really like the scope it looks good clicks are crisp I just don't know . Is anyone else had this problem?????

If you paid $600 for a Viper that is a problem in itself. Try using a lower magnification The upper magnification tends to magnify any issues the glass has rather than the image. Glass trumps magnification every time. You should see and improvement around the 10 - 15 magnification range. As you age your eyes are less acute. I have just undergone my second cataract surgery. It helped a lot but my eyes are not what they were when I was in my 20s and 30s. It requires much better quality glass to see what I could in my youth.
Folks ain't got a sense of humor no more. They don't laugh they just get sore.

Need to follow the rules. Just hard to determine which set of rules to follow
Now the rules have changed again.

Make sure the diopter is adjusted correctly. This makes a huge difference in the prescription of the scope.

The way I do it is: While aiming at a blue sky with the scope maximum magnification and parallax set to infinity, look through the scope at nothing but the reticle. If it is not instantly clear, make a small adjustment to the diopter ring. This has to done in small increments, with many breaks to rest your eyes, due to your eyes wanting to auto-focus the reticle...
If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

Most likely incorrect diopter adjustment is the problem.  Follow the procedure above.

I had that scope and mine was not like that.  Mine seemed very clear at any distance.  I had it on a 223 wssm and shot it from 50 to 800 yards and never noticed it to be like that.

Maybe give Vortex a call.  They will do what it takes to make you satisfied.  They are great to work with.

Just to be fair here, you did not write HS in the first post.  So we assumed a regular Viper, which goes for around $460.  But now we know, so no harm done.

No need to get defensive, just miscommunication

Why not call Vortex?  If it is a flaw with the scope, they will give you a new one.  They have probably the best CS in the optics biz.

Here is a simple test you can try to do.

Set scope magnification to something your eye is comfortable with, like 16x or 18x or something along those lines.

Set you side focus turret for 100yards.

Then, while looking at a 100 yard target, see if you can slowly adjust the eyepiece to make the target as sharp as possible.

If you can get appropriate image sharpness that way, check the scope for parallax.

I have have (had) multiple vipers and Vortex products and none have ever been that way.  Hopefully its just a specific scope issue for you.

I understand your problems, but you can choose a different supplier. For example: Nikon
When selecting the best air rifle scope with reviews, there are a few important things to keep in mind.

ALL scope makers have had trouble from time to time. Nikon, (which I'm a documented homo for), have had their issues too. Just not any of MY Nikon's.....Big Grin
If at first you don't secede...try..try again.
