Hey Folks,

I'm finally going to give an inline a try this year.  Wife gave me the all clear to get a T/C Omega, and I would like a little scope advise.  As the title says, my two main considerations are the Viper 2-7x32 with the Versa-Plex C3 reticle, and the Nikon Omega 1.6-5x36.  Basiclly, I want to know if the Viper is worth the additional $60?  I like the 5" eye relief on the Omega, but am impartial about the BDC reticle.  The reason I would consider the Viper is for better glass? and better warranty.

By the way, I was at my local gun shop yesterday when the Nikon rep came in and I was asking him about the Omegas.  I would be all over it except he said that they are Buckmasters glass (for some reason I thought they were Monarch level).  At that low magnification would there be much difference?

Thanks,
Michael

Tough decision, I'd want to look through both scopes side by side.  I believe the vortex scope will win out glass wise, but I don't have personal experience with either.

The nikon is also available with the nikoplex reticle if you don't like the BDC.  Eye relief on both should be a wash, the new inlines don't kick that hard.  It might come down to low light performance, than you have a 36mm objective vs. a 32mm.  Pyro has that viper,he would be the guy to ask.

Right now I'm leaning towards the Viper.  I like better glass.  I'll get the gun this week, but won't get the scope till next month after I do a side job for a feller, so I've got plenty of time to be sure of what I want.  I've got one Buckmaster scope, and it's nice, but I wish I had gotten a Monarch.

I just think the support that comes with a Vortex is unbeatable and that are making a fast name in quality optics with the VIper line

yeah the crossfire is nothing compared to the viper.  Really it hurts vortex more than it helps them IMO

if your hunting with this rifle id look more at build and the mechanics of how well the scope is built.

id go vortex over the nikon...nikon has terrible customer service

Well, I ended up with a 2-8x32 Monarch.  Later, when the Viper's were discounted, I bought a different one and put it on my 6mmBR to try.

I ended up just using the Fiber optic sights on the T/C, and mounting the Monarch on my Ruger Hawkeye 308.

After looking throught several Monarchs and Vipers, I prefer the Nikon.  The Vortex is a nice scope, and I'm sure they are a great company, but I like my Nikons and Sightrons better.

Thanks for all the advice,

Michael
