I'm looking at these two right now for a new pair of hunting binoculars. Anyone have any experience with the two models directly meaning they have owned both or have used both and could let me know the differences?
For me, important features include:
I know they are about $200 apart but I would be willing to go as high as $499 on a pair top end price.
Any other models that fit within this range I should look at?
I'm set on 8x42 for the size of the binoc's that I want.

You bought the better of the two binoculars. I have both and the Viper is a step up from the Monarch. The Viper works , for my eyes at least 10 minutes earlier and later than the Monarch. Also my Viper is better at distance resolution than the Monarch. Mine is a sample of only one each, but that's what it is for me.
