I know that individuals on this forum are always looking for good quality, wide FOV, porro prism binoculars.

Vixen North America is closing their east coast operations and is having a closeout sale on their optics products. (They opened their west coast location in 2006).

If anyone is interested, here is an address:
www.vixenamerica.com/Products/Default.asp?TopCatCode=BG&Fam_ or_Cat=BG-F

or, you can go to www.vixenamerica.com and take it from there.

These products are made in Japan.

The Vixen Foresta reminds me of the Leupold Cascades Internal Focus Porro Prism Binoculars which are also made in Japan, but only have a FOV of 6.4 degrees in the 8x42mm model.

Thanks for the link BW. Did you happen to order yourself and/or do you own any now?

I have been considering getting one for my wife, because of the wide FOV.

I am also considering the Vixen ARK 30x80 for myself, before the prices and the stock vanish.

It was just within the past month that I purchased another Pentax PCF WP II, so, like Koshkin, I'm trying not to make my wife unhappy with me.

Here's an update:

As of May 1st the prices at Vixen went down alittle more. They are having a further reduction in prices after the NEAF/NorthEast Astronomy Forum 2007.

TeleVue is handling the sales over the phone until stock is gone.

My wife is satisfied using what we already have, so, she gave me the "green light" to get the Vixen Giant ARK 30x80mm binoculars.

SWFA sells the Swarovski 30x80mm Big Eye Spotter System for $4,949.95, so, I figured the Vixen 30x80mm is a steal at only $404.oo.

FOV on these is a whopping 2.3 degrees, or, 120' at 1000 yds.

For those who are interested in weight, these are a mere 5.3 lbs.
