Hello Ed, took the 1950s vintage FN Commercial out to the Holland and Holland shooting cinema yesterday. Great fun had. Also shot with my buddy who had his 375 H&H Parker Hale out

Image result for cogswell and harrison 375

That reminds me....years ago when we were in South Africa we went down to Gold Reef City in Johannesburg and walked around that park that was a recreation of 1890s Johannesburg during the gold rush.

They had operating hotels and restaurants and general stores and saloons and stuff. They had antique stores and a GUN STORE! So I was poking around in there!

I saw a Cogswell and Harrison 375 H & H for sale for 2500 Rand....at that time that would have been the equivalent of $833 American!!!   But we were fixing to go back to the US and needed to keep our money....but it was a real bargain!  I also saw--- with my own eyes!!!  a Brevex Mauser magnum action for only 600 Rand!!!  ( $200 US!! )  .....and I didn't buy it!!  Loco

Jack O'Connor's personal .416 Rigby on a Brevex Mauser magnum action.......incidentally, that is a Weaver scope which attests to the durability of those old Weavers.....

A K4 Weaver Micro-Trac from 1980 beats the pants off a Leupold 4X M8 six ways from Sunday!!  I know! I had both of them! The Weaver was 4.1 power which gave a BIGGER image....it had a larger field of view, the crosshairs were fatter (!) and it was WAY BETTER in Low Light conditions!  Plus.....the bluing matched the bluing on pre-64 Winchesters perfectly......hee hee

The Brevex actions are interesting. French of course, and one of the few makers who regularly made actions that could take bolt action chamberings such as 505 Gibbs.
