have a circa early 70s redfield widefield 4X with a reticle that I can't find any info or photo, very fine crosshairs to a tiny center circle, circle is open with no dot or continued crosshair ???

Well, you need to get yourself a 1975 or so Shooters Bible and they're certainly have a Redfield Advertising Section that will show all their reticles of the period.
I just GOOGLED 'Denver Redfield Reticles' on Google Images and came up with a bunch of pictures....try that.

I had to toss my collection of old Shooter's Bibles and Gun Digests a few years ago when I moved. Check ebay for some old copies. They are indispensable for reference on old gun stuff.
