So I picked up a couple vintage optics at a yard sale and need some info and help with one. I wanted one of them and the second one just came with it.

--First one is a Kollmorgen Bear Cub 4x S/N:22111 with the post reticle. It has some light ring marks and looks like a matte black almost green tint finish. the glass is perfect and super clear. Anyone know when this was made and is the post style reticle scarce vs others available? A rough value would be great too?

--Second one is a Weaver K2.5 with fine crosshair reticle, has the small brass slotted screw elevation and windage adjustments, also came with what looks like original lens covers Overall its very clean. The down side is the Eyepiece glass is chipped in a few spots on the edge. Since I can remove the whole eyepiece and it looks like the glass is held in by a brass cap I think I could put replacement lens if I could find one or use a whole rear eyepiece. So does anyone have any ideas as to find a lens or a whole rear eyepiece? and what a fair cost for either one of these would be? Its a great little scope and works as is but I would like to get it back to undamaged condition. I called IronSight and they told me they don't sell just the lens and refinishing would be 85.00 and a long wait. I really like the lightly worn look and just want it to be In 100% working order.

Thanks Guys

e Bear Cub is a $100 - $200, depending on the variety.  Send me a pic, and I'll tell.

To hell with Ironsights and Parsons, and all of them.  15 months turnaround?  I turn back scopes in 2 weeks.

Is it brass ringed eyepiece or the flush?  Those lenses are bitch to get out.  Does the lock ring have one or two slots in it to remove?  I've had to cut slots in a few scopes to get it out.

You can pick up glass at www.surplusshed.com.  That's where I get all mine.  Not all the Weavers use the traditional ocular doublet configuration.  It's two flat doublets in that eyepiece, but you're correct in assuming you may be able to put a replacement doublet assembly in there.  I've done that on a number of Redfields.

If you send me a pic of your eye piece I'll know which config it is.  The lenses are like $7 a piece at Surplus Shed, but you need the size and focal point(s) to choose the correct lenses.   The hard work is getting them out of the eyepiece.  If they're broken, I would almost just break them out to and then screw the retaining rings out, but both lenses may not be broken, so be CAREFUL.  I've done this on occasion.  You'll have to heat up the eyepiece to break the glue they use to secure those rings in, but if you do that with the lenses in, they will seperate when the Canada Balsam in between them melts.  first try removing them.   You need a lock ring spanner.
