Hey all I picked up this older(I think) scope.. It says
On one side of the rear bell.   (Just like this)
                 HY-SCORE
3x-9x32 variable mod 454
Nitrogen fogproved

On the other side it says

SIERRA
Special
Japan

Beside where it says Japan it has a symbol that looks like a diamond with a E inside of it

Any idea what the heck I have here? Are they any good? It has fine crosshairs in it and looks nice and clear. Also has faint ring marks. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Don

The Hy-Score scope is just a Japanese scope from the fifties and sixties that was imported by Hy-Score, an air rifle company out of Brooklyn, New York.

I don't know how good yours is, but a lot of imported Japanese scopes from those days were quite decent.  I had a Tasco 3X9X32 as my very first scope back in 1964.  That scope was still going strong in the eighties when my brother-in-law sold the rifle that it was on...( I had given him the scope years earlier and he put it on a 270...)

The Hy-Score is probably comparable quality.  An old relic from the old days...that scope probably cost $25 brand new in the sixties....

I couldn't tell you who made it....

Son of Ed , thanks for the info. That's kind of what I thought about the quality. I too have several Japan made Tasco's and Bushnell's. This one looked comparable, that's why I took a shot at it. And the price was hard to beat, I only gave $8.00 for it plus tax. Don't know what its going on yet, and didn't really need it but that's how I got most of the scopes I have now. Buy em cheap, let em sit till something comes home to put em on.
