Indeed!  Both teams started playing some defense.

Heck, he is old enough to be Dad to some of those guys.

Sorry Mike.  I think Prince's song is what did them in.  They got it stuck in their heads and couldn't hang onto the ball.

Some pretty bad ref calls there at the end, as well.  My wife, who is not a big watcher of football, said "looks like they are trying to GIVE it to New Orleans".  However, even with all that, Favre's mistake at the end of the 4th is what gave the Saints their chance.  Breaks of the game.  Overall, it was a darned good game...

bs, sorry dan i disagree. brett threw two int's sure but he didnt fumble the balle 5-6 times and a couple of them certainly cost them points as they were in the red zone. in no way should brett assume full responsibility for the loss. had he run that last play instead of trying to throw it we wouldnt be having this discussion. they had plenty of chances to put the saints away and fumbled it away.

BS if you want, but a QB of the experience and caliber of Favre is not supposed to make those kind of mental errors.  Just a dumb mistake a exactly the wrong time in the game.  Certainly the rest of the team cost the Vikings a lot of points, they kept NO in the game, but that one last mistake clinched it.  Had Favre merely run the ball or thrown the pass away, FG... game over.
Ask Favre who lost the game, he'll tell you.

think what you want but your wrong in this case, they lost as a team not as an individual. new orleans didnt win just because of drew brees did they?? you can speculate all you want, they could have missed the field goal and still lost in ot anyway. take away the fumbles and leave farve with those two int's and bet the vikes would have won by at least 10 points. i dont care how good a quarterback is supposed to be, they are still human and still are susceptible to mistakes. as far as asking farve who lost the game, thats brett. of course he would say it was all his fault, because he is a leader he is willing to take responsibility for everyone elses actions on that team. problem with that is, he cant control what they do. he had zero to do with the defense letting the saint score all those points.

The last int. did it and the game was over. The pathetic hand offs from Viking ball carriers is what killed them.

Pyro, I was FOR the Vikings.  You are correct, they COULD have missed the FG and lost in OT anyway, but the odds are against it.  The kicker has an outstanding track record at that range.  Yes, the "team" lost the game, there were more than enough mistakes on the parts of defense, offense, special teams... HOWEVER, Favre BLEW the play.  No way he should have made that pass.  But, as I said, it happens.  Sometimes everything coincides against the ones who SHOULD win.  Had the refs not screwed them a number of times, even the mistakes the Vikings made would not have been enough to stop them.

i wasnt for either team to be honest. ive never liked the vikings, im more of a player fan than a team fan. i did however wear my jets hats yesterday, lot of good that did. im a farve fan and he just happens to play for the vikings, i really like percy harvin too. do i wish that they would have won yeah. i think its unfair to lay blame on any one player, just like its unfair to call the place kicker for the saints a hero. he didnt win the game all by himself.

deion sanders said it best on the nfl network post game show, the best team lost tonight. i think brett will take some time do what brett does, goes hunting mows his pasture etc.  and reflect on the season and hopefully see that its worth it to try one more time. yeah he isnt getting any younger, but he just had the best statistical season of his career with a new team. i hope to see him play again next season he is good for the game.

If he wants to be able to walk when he's 50 he should hang up the cleats.  He took a pounding last night. He's a tough nut, no doubt, but he ain't getting any younger.
He gave it his best shot. Hang it up, retire with respect and the ability to chew solid food.

I agree.  I wanted him to play this year, but he really should quit while he's ahead.  But, depending on how he feels, he does have about 13 million reasons to come back.

Thank SD....

yeah turn overs killed the Vikes no doubt. They had plenty of chances and Farve shouldn't take all the heat, offensively it was a team effort of self destruction in so many ways.

Brett Frave did take a pounding that's for sure. The Saint's didn't hold back. There one one play where the one defender lifted Farve up and pile drove him into the ground. Ouch!!

I hope he comes back.....

It cost the Saints fifteen yards too. The lift is what the men in stripes saw and the reason for the flag.

Small price to pay when trying to knock out the QB.  Wink

Sometimes sending a message is worth 15 yards depending on the situation?

I think I'm siding with Mike
