Just a heads to anyone looking to get a stock dipped---  I have had a horrible experience with Borreson Outdoors in Wisconsin. He was to dip one on my T/C stocks, and when he eventually shipped it out past well his promised arrival date, it arrived with a bunch of runs and dirt in the clear coat. When I questioned him about it , he said that he saw it before boxing it up , but sent it out anyway . His quote from a later email - " Yes the first clear coat sucked " Okay ... then why send it in the first place? No answer.   So , fool me twice.. I sent it back 5 weeks ago for a promised repair. Here it is , 2 weeks past his promised return date and again -- nada .. He has my stock , I paid shipping back out to him, and my original payment .. No communications , and I am supposed leave  for muzzleloader season tomorrow night with that Omega.. Stear clear of this guy...

I wanted a wood grain appearance, otherwise I would have used Bell and Carlson . I've been really happy with their service and products

I asked him to overnite it back to me Monday , so I could have it for muzzleloader season - which started Thursday....Nope -- he sent it smail mail , and it showed up Saturday afternoon ( season ended ) ... And it looks like crap ,..He wrapped it in shrink wrap, which the image of is permanently part of the too thick and dirty clear coat... It cost me $16 to send it back for him to refinish , but  he sent me an $8 check to cover shipping ???

Now my stock is trash, and  I am out the money it cost to have the "work" done, plus now I have to buy another stock ... Furious doesn't come close

Avoid Borreson Outdoors !!!!

Scott,
sorry to hear of your mis-fortune!  Take a lot of pictures and post a new thread with their name in the title.  That will let it show up and be a warning for anybody that goggles them!

I sent him an email explaining my position and dismay with his service .
He actually admitted the first job he did on my stock was " horrible " .
I just want my money back , but he insists on trying to fix it a 3rd time. The finish is so thick now it's funny .
I couldn't imagine how bad it would be if an additional coat is put on .

Fool my three times ?? Naah ..He would have to strip all the previous coats off and then refinish it from scratch .  The clear coat has pooled up in all the checkering recesses now , it would look even worse with more piled up on it.

He actually stated in an email that "Yes the first clear coat sucked " . Then why send it ??!??!?  How can I trust him a third time to refinish it .. I might just send it off the Bell and Carlson and see if they can do one of their camo finishes on it VS the wood grain look I had hoped to get from this guy.

Paid by check , and I have the stock .. I talked with him in the phone yesterday for a while .. He's a character , and he just doesn't get it . He tells me he has more invested in his work on it than I paid for it, and that's the reason he feels compelled not to refund my money and to take another crack at it . He stated it costs him $45 to dip and clear coat the stock .. Okay -- so spend $40 plus another $32 in shipping  , or refund my $90 and get on with life ... Loco

Point him to this thread and ask him how much he thinks the bad publicity and a complaint to BBB will cost him?

Well sh#$, that is a bunch of crap...it's one thing to be learning how to use equipment and trying do a good job, but to send out a product late..twice..and know it's a bad job without letting the customer before hand....not the way a decent company should work.  Thanks for the heads up on this tool.

Its been a little water under the bridge since this thread was posted.  I am not trying to poke a bear, but after hearing about this thread from some of my customers I feel I need to explain the other side of the story.

I was shipped a stock by Scott over 2 years ago.  My business was quite new, and he wanted his stock done during the busiest time of they year.  I can not attest to dates, but do have a quite good recollection of the events that took place.

I received the stock from Scott to be dipped in Wood Grain.  The stock was dipped cleared and shipped back to him in a timely manner.  I believe he received the stock and found some orange peel on the stock, and was not happy with the finish.  I asked him to send the stock back after he was done with it for the year and I would not only reimburse him for the shipping but would also redo it.  It cost me $8.00 to ship it to him via Priority Mail, and that same amount to ship it to me.

I received the stock back to redo, and was told he needed it back in a very short time for another season.  I finished up the stock quickly and shipped it out via Priority mail taking 2 days time to reach him.  I made the mistake of allowing him to rush me to ship it and didn't allow the clear to fully cure out.  In shipping the plastic wrap apparently ended up leaving some lines in the stock according to him.   I never got to see the stock or pics again.  I also included an $8 check with the shipment assuming that is what it cost him to ship it to me.  (He later claimed he used a more expensive way to ship it)  I offered 2 resolutions.  Again ship back to me for free when he has plenty of time to put the gun down for the season.  I would send him a shipping label or pay him again for the shipping both ways.  I also offered a full refund with picture evidence of the marks left by the plastic wrap.  I never heard back from him and assumed everything was fine.

On the rare occasion that a transaction goes bad I try to work to resolve the issues and make sure the customer always walks away satisfied.

In this case My offer is still on the table to redo the stock as all of my workmanship always has and always will be lifetime warranted and guaranteed by me personally!

Please feel free to visit my website www.filmdipping.com

I have no dog in this fight, I have delt with Scott no several occations and he's always been good on his word.  I personally wouldn't have sent you a stock a 3rd time if you hadn't got it right the previous, I'd move on to a more capable company.
