Just a heads to anyone looking to get a stock dipped--- I have had a horrible experience with Borreson Outdoors in Wisconsin. He was to dip one on my T/C stocks, and when he eventually shipped it out past well his promised arrival date, it arrived with a bunch of runs and dirt in the clear coat. When I questioned him about it , he said that he saw it before boxing it up , but sent it out anyway . His quote from a later email - " Yes the first clear coat sucked " Okay ... then why send it in the first place? No answer. So , fool me twice.. I sent it back 5 weeks ago for a promised repair. Here it is , 2 weeks past his promised return date and again -- nada .. He has my stock , I paid shipping back out to him, and my original payment .. No communications , and I am supposed leave for muzzleloader season tomorrow night with that Omega.. Stear clear of this guy...

Appreciate the heads-up. Hate ya got screwed with, that really bites. What those guys do not realize is that with the internet it's not just a case of you telling a handful of people any more.

I wanted a wood grain appearance, otherwise I would have used Bell and Carlson . I've been really happy with their service and products

I asked him to overnite it back to me Monday , so I could have it for muzzleloader season - which started Thursday....Nope -- he sent it smail mail , and it showed up Saturday afternoon ( season ended ) ... And it looks like crap ,..He wrapped it in shrink wrap, which the image of is permanently part of the too thick and dirty clear coat... It cost me $16 to send it back for him to refinish , but he sent me an $8 check to cover shipping ???
Now my stock is trash, and I am out the money it cost to have the "work" done, plus now I have to buy another stock ... Furious doesn't come close
Avoid Borreson Outdoors !!!!

Scott,
sorry to hear of your mis-fortune! Take a lot of pictures and post a new thread with their name in the title. That will let it show up and be a warning for anybody that goggles them!

I sent him an email explaining my position and dismay with his service .
He actually admitted the first job he did on my stock was " horrible " . I just want my money back , but he insists on trying to fix it a 3rd time. The finish is so thick now it's funny . I couldn't imagine how bad it would be if an additional coat is put on . Edited by martin3175 - October/25/2010 at 08:07 |

I don't see anything to loose except your patience!

Fool my three times ?? Naah ..He would have to strip all the previous coats off and then refinish it from scratch . The clear coat has pooled up in all the checkering recesses now , it would look even worse with more piled up on it. He actually stated in an email that "Yes the first clear coat sucked " . Then why send it ??!??!? How can I trust him a third time to refinish it .. I might just send it off the Bell and Carlson and see if they can do one of their camo finishes on it VS the wood grain look I had hoped to get from this guy.

Paid by check , and I have the stock .. I talked with him in the phone yesterday for a while .. He's a character , and he just doesn't get it . He tells me he has more invested in his work on it than I paid for it, and that's the reason he feels compelled not to refund my money and to take another crack at it . He stated it costs him $45 to dip and clear coat the stock .. Okay -- so spend $40 plus another $32 in shipping , or refund my $90 and get on with life ...
