I bought a scope on ebay for $300 that was supposed to be a VX-III 1.75x6x32, but upon arrival was instead a Vari-XIII 1.75x6x32E.

How much difference is there in value?
TIA

There wont be that much difference in price but there will be difference in quality. The VX-III series has the new Index Matched Lens System, and finger-adjustable windage and elevation dials. This model VX-III is also available with the duplex range estimation system. The scope you got will compare in quality to the new VX-II's. For $300 I would say you got a good deal.

I suppose my question should be, "If the scope was misrepresented, what is fair compensation?"

If you are unhappy with the scope contact the ebay seller. Since the scope was mis advertised maybe a comprise can be worked out. If we were selling the same VariX-III scope on our sample list we would most likely sell it right around that $300 mark. So all in all you did get a good deal.
