Im considering a built in BDC recticle in 1.65x5x36/3x9x40 Nikon Slughunter or a 2x7x32 with Dead-hold BDC Vortex Viper. Exit pupil/light is best at 5x in Nikon and BDC works only on max magnification. If I have my drop figured in with the Dead-hold BDC at 6x for best lighting/exit pupil but the turn up magnification to 9x and shoot- does this change my scopes calibration/POI. In other words- BDC changes with magnification on the Nikon, is it the same with the Vipers BDC? Its going on a Savage 20g slug gun but I posted it here because I thought it was more of a general scope question. I really like the Nikon with its 5 inches of eye relief but I read great reviews of the Viper which only has 3.7 inches of eye relief on 7x setting. Cost difference between these 3 scopes is $169/Viper 2x7, $169 Nikon 1.65x5, and $199 Nikon 3x9- thats after Nikons $30 mail in rebate. Thanks and sorry for the newbie questions.

It should not change your point of impact on your main crosshair aiming point, but it will change where you hit on any of the other aiming points.  At least it will on the 2fp scopes.
