not to change the subject but with the 22-250 and the .375H&H i have gotten great results with both powders.

As mentioned above, IMR4064 is another excellent powder for .308, as is 748.  Between Varget, 4064, and 748, you should have all the powders you'll ever need to find a super accurate load in .308.

I shoot mostly Varget  for 168 gr and some IMR 4350 for the 190 gr but I have also used several others.  I'll bet I have some 175's loaded with 4064.  It's been so hard to find powder that I have had to be more adventuresome lately.

I have a couple pounds of TAC I'm going to try. I hear it is real clean, and also not temperature sensitive, it ia also a ball powder like 748.

What weight bullets, BF?
175gr SMK, I'm also finding new promise in 178gr A-MAX.
Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

I use Reloder 15 as an alternative to Varget.  I can get really good groups with it but it does seem to be more temperature sensitive than Varget.

Always depends on the rifle as they say, but I use Varget because it is pretty accurate and at different temperatures. Reloder 15 produces tighter groups but is dirtier and that was enough for me. Varget meters pretty well. Out of 25 throws typically two will be over 2/10ths so I'll have to dump a little into the trickler. That's when it gets cut and the throw isn't smooth. The rest will be right where I set them @ 2 or 3/10ths under. (Of course I should - out of self interest - be saying how much Varget sucks and you all should stop buying it. I got 8 jars last year on sale @ 16.99/lb. and now all the places around here sell it for $23.99 when they even have it).
Reaction time is a factor...
