Since I don`t have a blue book to determine the value of a used rifle, I thought that perhaps I could get some help here.................One of my clients (original owner) has a 1978 to 80 (best guess) Ruger M77, 6 MM Remington. Other than sighting in, this rifle was used on one successful antelope hunt. That`s it! I have not seen it yet, but I can assume that it is in great shape which I can determine later...........In order for me to offer a fair price and assuming it is in great shape, what is the book value of this rifle? What did it sell for new?.....................Thanks for the help!

Does it have any other designaton after the 77?

Is it stainless?

Does it have sights?

Is it a round top reciever that is drilled and tapped?

Does it come with the Ruger rings?

Does it have a red butt pad?

Does it have the tang type safety?

Ball park would be $300. - $375. depending on configuraton and condition.

A good way to determine the value of a gun is to see what they are selling for and you can do that by going to GunBroker.com and digging around with their search feature.  Click on the Smart Search and you can really get to the nitty gritty.

I did a search for Ruger 77 6mm and just pulled up the completed auctions and found one for $400. that was pretty rough and it did not get any bids.

I agree with Chris, but would also go to www.gunsamerica.com.  I think you get a better idea of what the real price of what used rifles are going for.  The Blue Book of Gun Values puts a value of 395 for that rifle in 98% condition, regardless of any of the specifics mentioned by Chris, which correlates with what he found on www.gunbroker.com.  Seems like a fair price for a nice rifle.
