My SCT (catadioptric) and refractor both invert the image and flip it left to right - you would need to use an Erect image diagonal to correct this.

My SCT is an 11" Celestron unit (CPC 1100) and my refractor is an 80mm apochromatic triplet (Orion ED80T CF) for astrophotography.

To be honest, I wouldn't use any of them for terrestrial use if possible. Compared to spotting scopes, even the 80mm APO feels cumbersome and bulky to handle.

If anything, I'm normally the other way. When I dont have time to setup my CPC 1100 and align it etc etc, I normally just use my Swaro ATS 80 HD to stargaze. Within its zoom range the views I've got are comparable to what my 80mm APO delivers.

Yes I can use higher range eyepieces on the APO, but generally for smaller scopes, 50-60x max is perfect for open clusters, some of the more brighter DSO's etc.

cheers
Jeelan

hey mate,

what exactly are you looking for a video to demonstrate?

in terms of spotting scope vs telescope for terrestrial use - contrary to what seems to be commonly accepted, I find telescopes awkward, clumsy and cumbersome for terrestrial use. I much prefer spotting scopes.

Much better package: transportable, ruggedised, you're not constantly swapping our eyepieces to change magnifications, and (in the case of mid and top tier spotting scopes) equally capable of achieving sharp, crisp images.

cheers
Jeelan
