Hello, I have a 10/22 which I want to upgrade to shoot 50 yd and 100 yard benchrest with.  I'm looking for a scope for this rifle.

I'm looking for a scope > 10x(prefer 20x-40x), has turrets which will be repeatable enough for quick accurate 0 changes.  Lesser quality optics are ok as this is going to be shot at 150 yards max.  For a reticle, I would like a simple reticle x hair or target dot.

The kicker is I would like to spend $100ish.  I could go $175 max, but that would be really max.

The only scope that comes to mind is the Vortex Crossfire. I have looked through several and it was better than I expected for the money. Some people have had problems but everyone I have seen work fine. And Vortex has excellent CS so if you do have an issue you will be taken care of.

That looks like a good option, but I would still prefer a 15x - 20x fixed power, just because I really don't need the variable....

I am not aware of any fixed power scope that is over 10x in the $100 to $175 price range. Bushnell used to make an Elite 3200 10x but that was $200 and the closest 20x I know of is a SS 20x at $300.

Plus if it was me I would want something with an adjustable parallax setting starting at around 10yds to 25yds.

Maybe someone else knows of a fixed power in your price range, but I do not.

That price range won't get you a fixed 24x+scope that has decent turrets, a fine reticle, and is set up for benchrest.
Most fixed power scopes are either thicker reticle scopes for sniping, or for benchresters who demand excellent quality and perfect zero holding capability, which $175 won't buy you in high magnification scopes.

The low end for most benchresters is the Weaver T-series, which starts at around $400. If you went with a variable, the Weaver V-24 is a good alternative at around $375, with the same turrets as the T-series and only a slightly inferior sight picture due to more lens elements in the variable.

I'd suggest that you just get an inexpensive 6-24x variable and set it on 24x for now. Buy the Weaver later if you want to upgrade.

Unless you've got a Kidd barrel and the nicest stock, bedding and action job ever put on a 10/22, a good 6-24x scope will likely be all you're ever need. I've only got a 4-12x on my 10/22, and even shooting SK, Eley and RWS ammo, it's still more scope than the rifle's accuracy can effectively use.

I kind of think the quality of the Ruger 10-22 rifles has degraded over the years I had a blue one bought in 1969 that was a tack driver and ones bought in the 90s for my kids seemed to shoot OK but I got one a couple years ago that just didnt make it accuracy wise and I got rid of it but I keep thinking I want another one.  Sorry but if you want a target scope to be serious with you need to cought up the money.

Right or wrong. . .I went Vortex Crossfire 8-32x50.  Seems good enough, but I have yet to do much more than look at it in the box!
