I have this question in to US Optics, but curious what the difference is between the 8C and 8S.

Looking at their website, the compare feature doesn't show any difference but there is a $1000 price difference between the two.  Must have been a price drop and they are discontinuing the 8S because the MSRP is cheaper than what folks have it listed for on their website.

Mark: I'm with you brother. Always been that company I could never afford or figure out their configuration.

Thanks. Daylight illum looks like the major difference.

Read a review from BigJimFish which was also helpful. Better options available but at the price on their website it is a pretty decent deal. Must be unloading the 8s in favor of the 8c

The difference between the SR-8C and the SR-8S is a SFP daylight visible Red Dot.  The SR-8S has an illuminated FFP reticle with NO red dot.  The SR-8C has a non illuminated FFP reticle with a daylight visible SFP red dot.

Hope this helps!

Becky:  Thanks for the comment.  Connected with Bryan at US Optics as well.  Great pricing on the SR-8S.

Thanks to Becky and Bryan's help, I went with the SN-8S.  The options you typically available on US Optics scopes aren't offered for this model, but how they keep the price down.  Would have like to had their #4 mini-EREK knob but can't argue with the lower price point compared to the SN-8C.

Build options I elected were:

2/10 US#1 elevation and windage turrets
JNG Mil reticle
Red illumination

Build time is 5 to 6 weeks, which isn't bad considering Christmas and New Years being in the mix.

This will sit on a SPR build that is also in the works and pull duty as a paper/steel puncher out to 600 yards and as a predator rifle.

Pictures and review to follow once I get all the pieces together.

Came across this review from BigJimFish on the SN-8c.  Couple years old but will be interested to see how the SN-8c compares.  Doubt I will be disappointed.  I don't have the calibrated eyeball that many of the expert reviewers have.
