Bought a storage over the weekend for $75 and what did I find... A Genuine Unertl 10x Tactical scope. Was told this was the same scope Unertl made/used by USMC. Manufactured in the USA! Scope is in near mint condition. Both caps and mounts included along with original user manual and beautiful case marked Unertl Opt. Co.This is not a USMC issued scope but is identical to those used by them. Not sure of the real value, but I know these don't go for cheap. If you are familiar with these scopes or interested, please email me. I live in Portland, Or. Thanks, Nick

Thanks for the info Brady. I did some research myself lastnight but still a little confused of what this particular scope is worth. I wanted to post it on Craigslist today and don't want it to sit for months because Im asking too much. On the other hand, I don't want to sell it and down the road find I could have asked 3 times as much. Any idea of what I should ask so it's a good deal for both parties? I have no need for a scope of this caliber, and I know the market for these isn't like your everyday scope. Anyone want to shoot me an offer? It would make a great Xmas present for yourself (or even the Mrs.) Wink Wink. Thank you to everyone for taking the time to help me out a bit! |

I woudl think you could get a lot more than $450 out of it if it is the real deal. You need to find someone that knows about them and find out what it is really worth. Or post it on a bidding site like gun broker and you could probably get a fair value that way.
You could call US optics and talk to them about it. They should be able to help you out with it. Edited by supertool73 - December/20/2011 at 16:37 |

Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

For $450 I think you're selling yourself seriously short. http://www.opticstalk.com/usmc-unertl-sniper-scope_topic3355.html Honestly if you doubled that price you would probably be giving someone a good deal. As what is mentioned in the above link I think the one you have is a "remake" that sells or sold for about $2500. Cripes put the sucker on ebay and I'll bet you'll do good. |

Ebay or you will never know how much you could have gotten.
I had some scopes that I had that I was going to dump for $500 a pop and a few went for more than $1000 a piece. I would have been happy with the $500 (more than I paid near double) but it sure felt real nice to get double what i was expecting.
I think you should find a friend if you do not have an account yourself 5% is all you should pay plus fees usually less than 5% of fees... Edited by 338LAPUASLAP - December/21/2011 at 12:16 |

My experience with Unertl scopes has been with the 8X 1 1/2 inch and 14X 1 1/2 inch and the 10X43 Vulture. Some time in the mid 90's I broke the Vulture and I called Unertl and spoke with some lady named Anna who told me they could not repair it. I took the Vulture to a Korean clock repair guy who skillfully fixed it and it worked for years after.
Before either selling or buying this scope I would check out to see if it was made in the U.S. I wish I knew more about this but have learned much from reading the preceeding. I guess I am no more than a novice student of Unertl optics but have used my 3 scopes for many years.
