We trapped all these except for two big boar coons (which we called in - what a hoot) the week of Thanksgiving!

WOW...great picture.
OK, so tell me, how do you "call in" 'coons??? Never heard of it, but have been hunting/shooting those evil suckers since I was a kid.

Easiest way to call in coons is the sound of a peanut butter jar opening.
Great pic. Coon hunting is so much fun.

We played a recording of coons fighting! Worked like a charm..... we should have had 3 more, but we couldn't shoot straight. Ty pretty much made me go and the first few times we didn't have any luck, but he kept after me and finally we got some action. I could hear the little guys rustling thru the leaves but didn't know what it was for sure till we switched on the light! A memory I'll never forget!
Tyler skins the coons and we sell them to a fur buyer. Didn't get much for the beaver, but the rat, mink and coons pay decent. We caught the coons in body grip, coil spring and dog proof traps. I tell you, I forgot how physical trapping can be.... up and down creek banks.... shoot, I was stiff and sore for a week! LOL Edited by Tip69 - February/21/2011 at 08:49 |
