Well I got my first Nikon today.  After hearing all the rave reviews I thought why not try one I thought the price was good 260 for the 4-12 monarch ucc in comparison to what Leupold and others are asking for equal magnification.  The only thing I was disappointed to see was that it was made ion the Phillippines I guess thats better than China but I thought they were made in Japan now.  Oh well It has the lifetime warranty and a good reputation now I just gotta decide what to put it on.

As long as you have the same glass, construction, and coatings, you'll be very satisfied, I predict.  Enjoy the new toy.

Optically I really cant see a difference between the new monarch and the original ucc, granted the new monarch has some nice new features that are not found on the ucc.  What I like most about the ucc is that they still can be found at incredible prices and if your willing to give up some of the newest features you can get a great scope at a fantastic price.

I would not worry about that.  If I am correct, mine was made in the Phillipines as well as my Nikon D80 digital SLR.  Go figure.  At least it is not China like you said.

My 2-7 and 3-9 Monarch UCC's are Philippines. I can't believe the lens are from there. Maybe the machining and assembling are done there, similar to Burris FF.
