I have owned pretty much every type of .45acp that has been made in the last 20yrs or so.  Guess what, I have gotten rid of everything but my 1911s.  That is not to say that the USP is not a great pistol, it is.  But, I just find 1911s to be my all time favorites.  My most recent addition was a Commander sized Dan Wesson Patriot with the Ed Brown Bobtail.  I am shocked to say that the quality of this pistol blows away all of my Kimbers, Colts, Springfields, etc.  I ordered this thing sight unseen just to add to my collection.  I cannot get over how nice of a pistol this is.  It is essentially a custom quality piece from a standard production line.  I love my Kimbers, but the fit, finish, accuracy, reliability and overall quality of the Dan Wesson are superior out of the box.

We're selling a couple of really nice .45's on Gun Broker right now.

Springfield Armory TRP Tactical Champion

Para Ordnance 14-45 LDA

Just sold a really nice Para Ordnance C7.45 LDA for $550 and a HK USP .45 ACP Stainless for $480.

My current favorite is my new Glock 37 in .45 GAP.  It is not as thick as the 21 yet holds 10 rounds, has the accessory rail and its super easy to take down and clean.  I used it in a 3 gun match with good results.

Mine is OD green.....sweet.

he says he doesnt like the looks of glocks, IMHO, a glock looks a hell of alot better than the XD, HK, SIG, and all those, IMHO a glock is one nice gun.

Chris, I am curious as to why you chose the .45 GAP?  You still have to put up with a 21 slide on the smaller frame.  I am not convinced that this round is here to stay.

I bought it for 3-Gun.  I had been using my Glock 21 but wanted something slimmer like a 1911......but they don't hold enough rounds.  I thought about going to a smaller caliber but they don't knock down the steel targets as easy as a .45.  Then I read all the hype about the 37 having the feel of a 1911 and the .45 GAP having almost the same performance as the ACP and it holds ten rounds.  So the best way to find out (for me) was to buy one.  My only complaint so far is the sights, but I'm working on that.

I bought a Kimber Tactical Custom. I love it!! Took it to a gun school, shot over 2300 rounds in 5 days, and only had 4 malfunctions, none of which were the pistols fault.

Unless you have $2000 to lay down on a custom 1911, take a look at a FULL SIZE Kimber.
Full size 1911's seem to have fewer problems than the Commander versions or Ultra's.

I shot a friends TLE in anougher gun course. Very nice. a little heavier than my Tactical. But very nice. I need ambi safties too. I'm....special!!

I wanted a USP for years.  Then, one day I got to spend some range time with one and really ended up being not impressed.  I would like to try out a P2000 sometime.

Outside of the 1911s, I am a Sig guy.  From a reliability and functionality standpoint, it rules.

I am a straight 1911 guy, but I have owned the USP in the past.  I liked the cocked and locked, and it was incredibly reliable, fairly accurate, but the triggger pull in single or double action was poor and it is impossible to get parts or service out of H&K.
