I just bought a Truglo mil-dot and illuminated reticle 8-32x44 scope from competitor. It's in the mail and I should receive it in a couple days.  Regular price on the scope is $229.00. It was on sale for $64.00. I cannot find any information on this scope. It is not listed on the Truglo web site, at SWFA, competitor or anywhere else. My question for everyone is what is the quality of Truglo Scopes?  Thank You     Norman

Norman........Welcome to Optics Talk.
First line of business, There is a rule here, which is no listing of competitors. The site is owned by SWFA. Nobody can beat these guys if you give them a chance to meet or exceed your expectations for price.

On to your question. I wish you had come here first. TruGlo is a cheap made (read no bargain) Chinese junk. If it's going to be nothing more than a "Throw Away" scope then OK as long as you don't have any high expectations. The glass is not good at all, and the reliability is going to be marginal at best.
229.00 for 64.00. This is done all the time. Believe it or not, that's how they get you to buy it.
Here's a link for truglo that SWFA sells. See if your scope is listed in there.
Also you can use this link to research the overall quality of scopes that you may be interested in.
You'll probably notice that TruGlo isn't listed.

Norman.....I just did a google for this particular scope. I found your question on firing line, and after researching your part number that you have listed, there is only one dealer that is offering this particular scope. This should be a warning about the possibility that it's a very cheap knock off hence the "DEEP" discount. Even ebay has nothing coming up.
I'm assuming that based on the particular magnification range, and objective size that you are a target shooter.
At what range do you intend to reach out to, and what is your maximum budget. With this information we can do alot here to help you get the very best that your money can buy within your given price point.

If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is not. Since so many Corp. bean counters are sending our technology to china we are seeing a lot of forgeries hitting the market. Always remember buyer beware. I hope you will be satisfied with your purchase. I do not know why so many jump out on some unknown scopes then come to OP to justify their greed and speed. Come to OP before you spend your hard earned cash.Loco

I have cousulted SWFA in the past about a brand of scope I was thinking about buying and based on their experience with the scope I was thinking about I did not buy it. I bought this scope on Saturday and I did not know opticstalk existed.   I have bought three scopes from SWFA.  It did sound too good to be true. My thought was I could send it back if I was not satisfied. I want to experience using a mil-dot reticle and an illuminated reticle without paying a big price. I am willing to pay $1000.00 for a scope but I cannot do that right now.  Also my thought were I am not out much money if the quality is not real good. I do not shoot competition but I do reload for my Remington 700 VLS that had been rebarrled with a Kreiger barrel and chambered for 22-250 AI.  My second rifle is a Remington 700 BDL (270 Win.)  that has been rebarrled with a Lilja barrel.  At present I am using a Tasco World Class Plus 10-40x50 scope on my 22-250 AI and I am not very excited about it.  I should get the scope Thursday or Friday at the latest. I am going to call SWFA today. I may have to send the scope back. Thanks for the information.  NormanSmile

You're welcome, I hope that it works out well. I am rather leary though that there isn't that scope anywhere except that one dealer. Best of luck to you in that regard.

I was very leary that I could not locate that particular scope anywhere but went ahead and bought it because I wanted to experience using a mil-dot illuminated reticle. I called SWFA and they could not give me any information in regards to the quality of Truglo scopes. I hope someone out there has experienced using Truglo scopes and will give their opinion. Howdy

Norman,

I also found this scope in a magazine ad for a sale price of 59.86 down from 229.99 and am thinking about buying it as a gift by request...  Did you get your scope & if so, how is it???

Stay away and avoid the future headaches.  It was really never 229.99, that is just a marketing ploy to make you think you are getting a deal when in fact you will be buying a POS scope.  Please take our word on this.
