Trijicon has been in the night sight business since 1981. They were the first company to obtain United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) licensing, which allowed exempt distribution of sights separate from a gun. Because Trijicon self-luminous iron sighs contain tritium (an isotope of hydrogen) they are licensed by the NRC for distribution to persons exempt from the requirements of a license. That means that customers -including handgun manufacturers, wholesale distributors, dealers or end users, do not need special licenses to purchase Trijicon products.
