My first post in this forum and want to commend everyone for all the knowledge they bring to this forum I’ve learned a lot.

Anyway I am hoping that somebody have any experience with the new Tripower tx30. I really like the design of this setup and hoping its a good alternative to either aimpoint and eotech.

From what I've read so far is that the old version was plagued with issues such as plastic construction, reticle on battery brightness issues, backup reticle functionality and brightness.

How is the new version? How does it compare to the aimpoint or eotech?

Price wise I think its pretty competitive with the aimpoint and eotech since it comes with a 30mm mount already.

Any input would be appreciated.

I have really thought hard about buying a tripower as I like the idea of having the multiple sources of illumination. As you know the AACOGS are very popular and the Marine Corp bought lots of them -- for distances that range from too close to 500 or 600 yds the AACOG is number one. The Aimpoint has been quite popular also but the thing that gives the EOTech the edge over both the aimpoint and the tripower is its wider field of view. In room to room urban combat in confined quarters the added wider field of view makes a life of death difference and accordingly the EOTech is number 1, currently.  All of the 1x type scopes suffer at longer distances and while you can use them to kill at longer distance having more powerful optics is important with target identification in a world where you have to be right about who you shoot. These scopes were disigned to hunt people so if you are hunting animals or target shooting the rules of what is acceptable for what is entirely different. With people you only have to be right -- every time -- and you have to be working under military orders or law enforcement authority - both of which have clear rules of engagement.

I guess the Eotech is really a great product that is the majority of reviews and comments Ive gathered so far and you established that again. Thanks for your input. The only thing really stopping me is the aesthetics, I just dont like the way the Eo looks but it has all the necessary features and more than capable from CQB to 100yds.

My purpose for the scope is for range, and boar hunting. Maybe I should also look into some 1-4x variable scopes, but cant seem to find one that has a true 1X and priced in the mid $300.

But then again I have friends that uses the Eo even up to 200yds and still hits it in the red zone.

Thanks again for your suggestion.
