Gentlemen

I want to buy a trail camera to follow movement of foxes. It has to be really weather proof and work in temperatures below freezing (good battery life).  I prefer something infra red that gives good photos.

There are not many trees to place this camera on so I might place it against rocks. I want to spend 100-200$ and so far Ive found one that migt work, MOULTRIE GAMESPY I60 - but I really dont know anything about this stuff yet.

Any comments or recommendations here?

Thank you.

I have the I 40, and I have had good battery life--1 set for 30 + days in the field--and those are still working at over 50%.

Does the i40 use flash or infra red? Id guess the flash could scare the animals?

The Moultrie i60 and i40 are infrared cameras with no visible white flash.
A guy I work with uses the i40 i believe and it takes pretty decent pics.
He bought it for the reason the flash will spook deer, long after you remove the cam. They will still continue to look at the tree and such.

I've been getting 6 months of battery life with the Bushnell Trophy Cam.  It goes for $200 - $230.  From all reviews of this cam I've read, it has the best batt life of any trail cam on the market, and having tried various brands and models, I can't argue with that claim.  It uses infrared for night pics, takes good pictures, is easy to setup, has good detection range and trigger speed, and it's also very compact.  It also uses AA batteries instead of the typical D or C size batteries, which, combined with the longer battery life, saves you money on batteries.  In addition, you can get lithium batteries in AA size, which extends batt life even longer.

I've tried the Moultrie I40, and although it took good quality pics, it had too many false triggers and missed shots, not to mention the display quit on me after less than a month of use.  So, I returned it.  I've never had any success with any Moultrie brand product holding up over time.
