like the title says...i basicly know nothing about scopes other than you look through them. i recent;y bought a remington 597 .22. i've shot shotguns for years so i'm a pretty good shot just with iron sights, but i'm looking for a scope but don't know what to look for. i tryed the FAQ forum but didn't help a whole lot. so does anyone know where i could go to "study" on scopes, or anybody want to explain it? any and all help is really appriciated.

In my opinion weaver classic rimfire scopes are the best as far as rimfire scopes are concerned.

thanks anthony, that thread really helped. i've heard good things about weaver scopes altho there a little expensive (cost more than what i paid for the rifle) but i suppose you get what you pay for.

A lower quality option (if your not trying to produce a 1/2" group at 50 yds) than you can go with a simmons or bushnell scope. I cannot say that they will serve long faithfully from experience though, I have heard several accounts that say simmons makes a great scope for the money, and a few say that there scope is flawed (definitely has something to do with quality control). And I trust bushnell scopes, (most of them) and it is difficult to screw up a rimfire scope so you should be fine. Bushnell has a warranty, but before you consider it you will have to pay about the same as you did for the scope for shipping should there be a problem with the scope.
