Jack,

Several guys around the net have said they have used the stock rings, and got along just fine.  On the other hand, many have preferred to use after market rings.  There are several brands out there made to fit the T3.  Talley, Warne, and Burris Signatures come immediately to mind, and I'm sure I've missed some.  There should be something out there to suit your taste.

J,

I bet Gary will hook you up when you give him a call.  I just installed some Talley lightweights on a T3, and they worked perfectly.

I've onlly installed one scope.  That is a Sightron Sll, 3-9 and it went on a Tikka T3 lite SS in 270 WSM.  It never occured to me to use rings other than the ones that were provided with the rilfle.  They were a snap to install, and have performed perfectly, reamaining rock solid through a couple of hundred rounds, including an arduous fall hunting trip in MT.

I've read comments suggesting that perhaps they are inferior and should be avoided.  What are the shortcomings of the factory Tikka units?  I'm becoming a little twitchy about them, wondering if something unpleasant is lurking just around the corner.

I understand the Tally rings are excellent, as well as several other brands.  This is going to be an issue shortly, because I'll be replacing this scope with a 52 mm objectivec, probably Kahles, and that will required a different mounting height.  Do I go with Beretta/Tikka rings or some other type?

I ordered some talley rings for my tikka t3 lite stainless 270 and the base screws do not fit the reciever holes. they are too big in Diameter. I ordered these straight from Gary at talley.

the last time I bought talleys for my tikka t3 hunter 270wsm I had no problems with the screws supplied.

I guess I will just call gary monday morning.
