Strongest will be a fixed power scope. The 10xHD will be the strongest but there are some good reasons to select a Nightforce and better reasons to select a Premier

I have fired a friend's Steyr-Mannlicher .50 BMG. He wanted to see the lifespan of a very inexpensive scope, a Barska 6-24 tactical. Thus far, after about 150 rounds, this scope has been flawless. The rifle itself experienced a trigger malfunction (a small screw in the assembly came loose at the 22-round mark) but the scope, which he said was about $200.00 has continued on without error! He is so satisfied, he does not plan to swap it out.

Have new Barrett 99 with Elite 3200 scope and would like to get a scope that will be the least likely to break or lose settings. I heard variables are not as tough as fixed power scopes- is that true of the Bushnell 6500 2.5x16x50?
I narrowed my choice down to a Super Sniper either in 10x42mil-dot HD, 16x42 (wish they made a HD model), the Bushnell 6500 or if it is still available for $1350 a Nightforce 5.5x22x56. What would experts say is the strongest scope? I consider toughness to be 95% important because what good is great glass, etc if the scope breaks at a critical time.
