After much research/lurking in here I finally ordered an optic for an AR I am "assembling". I HAD to get the SWFA 16x42 SS Mil Quad from the Sample List...
The gun it will reside on is a 24 inch stainless upper 1/8 twist heavy barrel upper on a RRA lower that has the RRA match two stage trigger and an A2 stock. I am mounting it with the SWFA SSALT mount. This gun will be for range work out to maybe 400 yards..If I can do my part that is!
With the money I had to work with and the information on here about the SWFA optics, I couldnt order anything else...period. I should have the optic by Thusday and hope to be shooting the rifle by week's end!!!!!!!!

The scope came Thursday and I mounted it on the rifle. Mounting was easy with the SSALT Cantilever Mount. I had everything adjusted and did a "mickey mouse" bore sight by pulling BCG and eyeballing the sight picture and an object in the barrel at 50 yards.

Today I finally got to take the gun out to shoot. I have the upper on a donor lower, since my A2 lower hasnt arrived from RRA yet. But the lower I used has a good trigger, but I dont like the collapsable stock. Anyway, I grabbed 30 rounds of Federal GMM 69 grainers and away I went. I shot the gun at 50 yards first and sighted it using the method described on here by looking at how many mils I was off. For a fixed 16X optic I had no issues at this distance and the glass is very good indeed. I dialed it in and moved to the next target I had set. This was at 150 yards. My next string of shots were very good. When I was doing my part, the gun was sub moa..That was when I was doing MY part. But all in all it was averaging MOA. I then moved on to a steel duck target at 200 yards to finish. I put 5 slow fire shots in the head neck area.
I have to say, I am VERY impressed with this optic. The glass is awesome, its very solid and the adjustments I made were reflected on the target. I am quite happy!!!
